How it works

How a life timeline works

Start with your birthday, a move, or a new project. Add the chapters that matter to you.

  1. Two ways to see the same life

    See when chapters happened or compare their durations. Shared links keep your chosen view.

  2. What the percentages mean

    See each chapter’s share of your timeline. Work, family, and places can overlap.

  3. Add a longer horizon

    Choose a future horizon to see your chapters in perspective. It isn’t a life-expectancy estimate.

  4. Save, share, and embed

    No account required. Drafts stay on this device. Shared links and embeds include your timeline’s details.

    1. Choose Make it yours to edit the example, or New timeline. Add up to 30 chapters, then choose Save on this device.
    2. Choose Share, then Copy timeline link. For a website, choose Embed on a site, then Copy embed code.
    3. In the same dialog, choose Download editable chart (.json) to keep a backup outside this browser. The file holds your timeline’s dates and text, so keep it private.
    4. To restore it, choose Create with an agent (Edit with an agent when a timeline is already open). Paste the file’s text into Agent result and choose Preview result. No agent is needed for this step. Check the chapters, choose Use this timeline, then Save on this device.

Where it goes

Send it to a friend or put it on your site

Tick “Include a personalized link preview”, and the link opens as a card with your timeline’s title and chapter count. That link sends the chart to Lifecharts to draw the card; the standard link does not.
Copy the embed code to add the chart to an about page or a newsletter.

With your agent

Make it with your agent

Start with a few notes, your birthday, or a LinkedIn profile. Your agent returns a timeline to review here, and you can keep editing it in words or by hand. No account or API key is needed.
